Northeast Philadelphia Receives $2.8 Million for Signal Upgrades, White Says

HARRISBURG – Northeast Philadelphia has been awarded nearly $2.8 million through Pennsylvania’s Green Light-Go Program, according to Rep. Martina White (R-Philadelphia). The funding will support upgrades to traffic controllers and provide new software licenses to implement next-generation transit signal priority at 140 traffic signals, including those at 53 intersections in the Bustleton corridor of SEPTA lines.

“These upgrades will make a meaningful difference for the thousands of residents and commuters who travel through the Bustleton corridor each day,” White said. “This is an important investment that will allow us to improve safety, enhance efficiency at our intersections and ensure our infrastructure evolves with the community’s needs. These signal enhancements are an important step toward strengthening the broader transit network that supports continued progress in the 170th District.”

The Green Light-Go Program provides state funding to municipalities for traffic signal improvements, including equipment replacements, retiming projects, LED conversions, and technology enhancements that promote improved mobility and safety.
